| II. Background | |
| 
				 ABL1, ABL proto-oncogene 1, non-receptor tyrosine kinase, plays a role in regulation of cell growth through ERK5, Rac/JNK, and Stat1/3 pathways (PMID: 10373409). Fusion proteins of BCR-ABL1 resulting in constitutive kinase activity have been reported in various cancers (PMID: 18851712, PMID: 30125955) and a number of Abl1 mutations in the context of BCR-ABL1 have been demonstrated to confer drug resistance (PMID: 24456693).  |
